Here is a sample of the chapter: "Important Rules to Remember"

  • Always start light, work dark
  • Always test your color on one fiber first.
  • When using the primary colors, the first color to be applied to the spot should be the color closet to the carpet color or the lightest primary color you need to add.
  • Always try to use blue last unless:
       Blue is the carpet color
Blue is the closest color to the carpet color
  • Note: Many grays are slightly on the blue side. Blue is used first because it is closer to the carpet color
  • Note: Brown is mostly red and yellow with only a little blue. If the spot is yellow, use red first. In most cases it is closest to the carpet color. In this case it is also the lightest primary you have to add back. (it has the least amount of energy). Blue is what brings brown into the brown family. If you have brought your spot to orange, it takes very little blue to bring it to brown. Use it last, and use it sparingly.
